OriGen Limited Warranty

This is a Limited Warranty. It is the manufacturer’s warranty for OriGen paints, mortars and coatings, in its U.S. edition. It applies to the OriGen products listed under “Products covered in the United States,” purchased in the United States.

Who gives this warranty

Warrantor (manufacturer): Naturmatt Smart Material, S.L., Spanish tax ID (NIF) B19760776, C/ Panaderos 7, Polígono Industrial Poliviso, 41520 El Viso del Alcor (Seville), Spain (“Naturmatt” or “OriGen”).

Warranty contact in the United States: NaturMatt USA LLC, Technical Department, 837 Blackhorse Trl, Justin, TX 76247 · support@origenpaints.com. NaturMatt USA LLC receives Warranty Certificates and warranty claims in the United States on behalf of the manufacturer.

This warranty has three parts:

  • Part 1 — Warranty Certificate and General Conditions: a 10-year product warranty against manufacturing defects, documented on a Warranty Certificate for each project.
  • Part 2 — Naturmatt Warranty Program: commercial warranty terms by product line, up to 25 years.
  • Part 3 — SYSTEM Certification Program: the Naturmatt Certified System and the Silver, Gold and Platinum tiers of the Naturmatt Mineral Durability Warranty.

Where a product has no program line, the 10-year product warranty in Part 1 applies. The Warranty Program is separate from the product warranty and does not reduce it. The term that applies to each product on a project is recorded on its Warranty Certificate.

This U.S. edition does not cover products that are not listed above, or OriGen products purchased outside the United States.

Part 1 — Warranty Certificate and General Conditions

For each project, a Warranty Certificate records the beneficiary, the project address and dates, the applicator, the distributor and, for each product, the color, batch (lot) number, quantity applied, minimum quantity and warranty term in years. Under the Warranty Certificate, Naturmatt will replace, and bear the cost of, the product needed to repair damage caused by manufacturing defects in the products listed on it. 1. Warranty

Naturmatt Smart Material, S.L. (“OriGen”), manufacturer of OriGen paints, mortars and coatings, warrants the product to the Beneficiary identified on the Warranty Certificate, in the territory where the work was carried out, for 10 years from the date of application against any deterioration caused by a manufacturing defect. During that period, this warranty covers replacement of the product for the damaged surface.

2. Application

The product must be applied according to its Technical Data Sheet (TDS), on the substrates for which it is suitable, and with the cleaning, repair and preparation work that each surface requires, as prescribed by OriGen’s technical experts.

3. Essential requirements

  • For this Warranty Certificate to be valid, the complete documentation, signed and stamped by the parties, must be sent within one month of the date the certificate is issued, by e-mail to support@origenpaints.com or by mail to NaturMatt USA LLC, Attn: Technical Department, 837 Blackhorse Trl, Justin, TX 76247.
  • False or tampered information, a missing signature of any of the parties, or a missing OriGen stamp voids this warranty.
  • The Warranty Certificate must be presented with any claim, together with the purchase invoice (or receipt) for the product. Claims must be made no later than 30 days after the defect or deterioration covered by this warranty appears.
  • The warranty is suspended while the contractor or the beneficiary of the warranty, in the broadest sense, has overdue payments owed to OriGen.

4. Insurance

The OriGen warranty is backed by a Reale Seguros insurance policy covering up to €300,000 in civil (third-party) liability.

5. Responsibility of the applicator and/or distributor

OriGen will carry out an independent quality process during and at the end of the work, in order to warrant the work and rule out liability on the part of the applicator. Depending on the report issued, compensation for the damage caused to the Beneficiary will then be the responsibility of one party or the other.

6. Exclusions

This warranty is void in the following cases:

  • Force majeure: earthquakes, fires, wars, storms, floods and lightning.
  • Use of the product for purposes other than those for which it is intended.
  • Deterioration of the product caused by structural cracks or by movement of the underlying layers of the substrate.
  • Water and moisture entering through cracks, fissures or construction defects that affect the substrate or the bond of the product.
  • Poor adhesion due to defects in the substrate or in previously applied products.
  • Impact, mechanical damage or reactions with non-OriGen products present on the substrate and, in general, any damage caused by factors unrelated to the quality of the product.
  • Loss of color intensity or brightness caused by pollution, dirt, atmospheric agents and natural aging over time.
  • Rising damp (capillary moisture) at the base of walls, in planters, or on surfaces adjoining other buildings.
  • Attack caused by a high salt content in the substrate, or by insufficient setting of the substrate, that may degrade the binder or stain the color.

Part 2 — Naturmatt Warranty Program

Program lines for products that are not sold in the United States are not included in this U.S. edition.

What the warranty covers

  • Adhesion.
  • Absence of peeling and flaking.
  • Stability of the coating.
  • Carbonation performance (depending on the product).
  • Weather resistance.
  • Color stability within the specified tolerances.
  • Absence of manufacturing defects.
  • Compliance with the performance stated in the Technical Data Sheet.

What the warranty does not cover

  • Poor substrate preparation.
  • Structural moisture.
  • Building movement.
  • Cracks in the substrate.
  • Flooding.
  • Chemical attack.
  • Application outside the specified conditions.
  • Mixing with third-party products.
  • Inadequate maintenance.

  • Pre-application inspection of the substrate.
  • Moisture control.
  • System verification.
  • Approved applicator.
  • Coverage-rate control.
  • Final inspection.
  • Naturmatt Warranty Certificate.

Naturmatt Mineral Durability Warranty

Naturmatt Lifetime Mineral Performance, with three tiers:

How to make a warranty claim

  1. Write to support@origenpaints.com, or to NaturMatt USA LLC, Attn: Technical Department, 837 Blackhorse Trl, Justin, TX 76247, no later than 30 days after the defect or deterioration appears.
  2. Include the Warranty Certificate for the project and the purchase invoice (or receipt) for the product.

Your rights under state law

This warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may also have other rights which vary from state to state.
